On Sunday 22nd September 2013 the Sunderland Big Walk will see hundreds of walkers set out from the National Glass Centre and make their way along either a 6.5 mile route (to Washington Wetlands Centre) or a 11.5 mile route (to Penshaw Monument).
Organised by Sunderland City Council it is a wonderful way to keep active with your family and friends whilst taking in some of the best scenery and heritage points of interest the city has to offer. It is also a perfect fundraising opportunity if you wish to get people to sponsor you for a charity of your choice.
Entry is £5 per adult, £3 per child (12 to 16 years), free for under 12 years. All walkers will receive a medal and a goody bag on completion and shuttle buses will be provided to take you back to the Glass Centre at the end of the walk.

Join Sunderland Carers' Centre for the Sunderland Big Walk and help us raise funds
Staff members from Sunderland Carers’ Centre are going to take part in the shorter 6.5 mile walk, from the National Glass Centre to Washington Wetlands Centre, to raise funds for the Carers’ Centre. We would really like carers to join us. If you would like to take part in the walk and help us raise funds or would like more information please contact Wendy Greenhow on (0191) 549 3768.
If you are unable to do the walk but would like to sponsor our team of walkers please contact the Carers’ Centre on (0191) 549 3768.
