Advice Centres

Sunderland Carers' Centre does not provide advice to carers about welfare benefits, but always recommends that carers seek specialist advice before claiming benefits.

Sunderland Welfare Rights Service holds advice sessions for carers every Wednesday afternoon at the Carers' Centre premises at Thompson Park, Thompson Road, Sunderland SR5 1SF.

To make an appointment please contact the Carers' Centre on (0191) 549 3768.

If you are unable to come to the Carers' Centre you can contact your local advice centre.

Sunderland City Council funds three local advice providers to ensure you can access advice and guidance on welfare benefits issues, debt, housing and some employment issues, free of charge, near to where you live.

These advice providers can also put you in touch with a range of specialists, including council services such as Sunderland Welfare Rights Service, should your query be more complex.
