Time Well Earned Exhibition in the House of Commons

Joanne Fenwick, Marathon RunnerA photographic exhibition featuring images of carers in Sunderland will be shown in the House of Commons from 23 - 27 June 2014.

The 'Time Well Earned' exhibition by local photographer Daniel Dale highlights the importance of carers taking a break from their caring roles.  It also gives a fascinating insight to some of the hobbies carers enjoy when they get a much needed break.

The exhibition has previously been shown at venues across the city and was first exhibited at The Place Gallery on Carers Rights Day in December 2012.

Sharon Hodgson MP for Washington and Sunderland West attended the exhibition when it was held at the University of Sunderland in March 2013.  Sharon was so impressed she suggested the photographs be exhibited in the Houses of Parliament.  One year later and thanks to Sharon and her office, this will become a reality.

On Monday 23rd June Sharon Hodgson will officially launch the exhibition in the Upper Waiting Hall of the House of Commons.  The launch will be attended by MPs from across the country.

Care in Crisis Listening Event

Friday 27th June 2014

1pm - 2pm

The Bradbury Centre, Age UK Sunderland, Stockton Road, Sunderland SR2 7AQ

Are you or a loved one getting the care that you need and are entitled to?

Have you had experience of requesting care?

Do you have an opinion about who should be eligible for care?

Age UK Sunderland is holding this event looking at the new national eligibility criteria to receive care.  This event will offer you a chance to feed in your views.  This is a very important part of the new Care Bill, because under the current system, there are some 800,000 older people who are not getting the care they need.

The event will be attended by Julie Elliott MP along with a representative from Sunderland Carers' Centre.  Members from Health, Housing and Adult Services at Sunderland City Council have also been invited.

To book a place contact Derek Liddle on (0191) 514 8346.
