Santa’s Christmas Party
Places are still available at Santa’s Christmas Party at Passion in Holmeside Sunderland on Sunday 9th December, 12 noon – 4pm. The party is for children with special needs and children experiencing extreme circumstances. At the party there will be entertainment, a balloon artist, face painters, petting zoo, mountain dogs, bouncy castle and party games, buffet, disco and Santa’s Grotto. Sunderland Carers’ Centre Christmas Open Day and Fundraiser
Why not join us at the Carers’ Centre and kick start your festive season at our Christmas Open Day and Fundraiser taking place on Friday 7th December, from
10am – 2pm. The Christmas elves have been busy again, weaving their crafting and baking magic to tempt us to bag a Christmas bargain or two! The Carers’ Centre will be filled with music, good cheer and some nifty footwork from our very own group of Irish dancers! Feel free to drop in, enjoy a cuppa and soak up the festive atmosphere. No need to book, just turn up on the day.
Carers Rights Day Photographic Exhibition – ‘Time well earned’
To celebrate Carers Rights Day 2012 we would like to invite you to go along to a new photography exhibition ‘Time well earned’ featuring photographs by Daniel Dale.
Daniel’s photographs will give a fascinating insight to some of the hobbies and interests carers in Sunderland enjoy when they take time out from their caring role.
The private view will take place on Carers Rights Day, Friday 30th November, from 12 noon to 3pm and at a later time of 4pm to 9pm at ‘The Place’ Gallery, Athenaeum Street, Sunderland SR1 1QX.
Attend the private view and you will be entered in a free prize draw to win an OLYMPUS digital camera.
The exhibition runs from Monday 3rd December to Friday 14th December. The gallery is open 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 3.30pm on Friday. Entry is free and open to the public.

Useful Vision Activities
Useful Vision has the following events happening in December:
Fins and Flippers hydrotherapy sessions, Thursday mornings until 6th December, Cedars School Sports College, Low Fell, Gateshead.
Christmas cookery sessions, Saturday 1st December, Jarrow (full) and Sunday 2nd December, Middlesbrough (1 place left in the morning session)
Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland joint Bounce Christmas party for babies and toddlers, Tuesday 4th December, 11am - 1pm, Silksworth Tennis and Wellness Centre. Parents, grandparents and siblings welcome. Dress code – Christmas!
Christmas Panto, Cinderella!, Saturday 15th December, 1 - 4pm, Centre for Life, Newcastle.

Transitions Support Group
The next meeting of the Transitions Support Group will take place on Thursday 31st January, 10.30am – 12 noon, at Sunderland Carers’ Centre, Thompson Park, Thompson Road, Sunderland SR5 1SF. The group is open to all carers of young people going through transition. Come and have a coffee and a chat about how things are for you and meet other parents in similar situations. ADHD Support Group
Are you a parent of a child with ADHD? Would you like to meet other parents? The Sunderland ADHD Support Group is run by parents themselves and they offer each other advice and support. The next meetings are on
Monday 3rd December and Monday 17th December, 11.30am, at SNYP, 272 Southwick Road, Southwick, Sunderland SR5 1DD.
Playgroup for hearing impaired children
Does your child have hearing loss? Do you want to meet other families in the same situation? Then join the parent and toddler group for all pre-school children with a hearing impairment. It’s a chance for the children to enjoy lots of activities and for parents to have a chat over a cuppa. Autism Friendly Film Screening – Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger
Dimensions have joined forces with Odeon Cinemas to host an autism friendly screening of the film, Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger (U, 2D), in cinemas across the country.
What makes the screening autism friendly? The lights will be on low, the volume will be turned down, you’ll be able to take your own food and drinks and you’ll be able to move around the cinema if you like.
The nearest screening will be at the Metrocentre Odeon on Sunday 16th December at 11.30am. Tickets can be bought from the cinema, online through the Odeon website www.odeon.co.uk or by calling Odeon’s Accessibility Helpline on 0800 138 3315 between 11am and 8pm.

200th Anniversary of Jane Austin’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’
Monday 28th January, 10.30 – 11.30am and 2 – 3pm.
