Britain's Best Breakfast - 14th September - 31st October 2015

Take part in Britain's Best Breakfast and help raise funds for Sunderland Carers' Centre.

There are various ways to get involved and donate including joining us for brunch on Tuesday 15th September.

Sunderland, Washington and Coalfields Parent Carer Council (SWCPCC)

The Parent Carer Council will be closed for the school summer holidays.  Emails will continue to be picked up but there may be a delay in replying.



The first meeting of the new school year will be on Friday 18th September, at the Carers' Centre, 10am - 12 noon

ADHD Support Group

Are you a parent of a child with ADHD? The Sunderland ADHD Support Group is run by parents themselves and they offer each other advice and support.

The next meetings will be on Mondays 14th and 28th September, 11.30am – 1pm, at SNYP, 272 Southwick Road, Southwick, Sunderland SR5 1DD.

Useful Vision

Useful Vision helps families with blind or sight impaired children get the most out of life. They run fun activities for children from 0 – 19 across the region. All activities are free to families registered with them.

Boccia Taster Sessions

For people with physical disabilities and / or mental health conditions aged 14 years and over.  Come and try Boccia for the first time or improve your skills.

Gentoo Summer Fun Days

Entry and all activities are free.

Friday 21 August, 11am - 1pm, The Monument Children's Centre, Whitefield Estate, Houghton-le-Spring DH4 7RT

Friday 28 August, 11am - 1pm, The Hetton Centre, Welfare Road, Hetton-le-Hole DH5 9NE

Activities include: African drumming workshop, circus skills workshop, striker, arts & crafts, competitions, Minions game, bird shows, football cage, henna, celebrity goalie, face painting, smoothy exercise bike, balloon modelling, petting zoo, free prize draws and many, many more.

Not all activities will be available at all events.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Food, drinks and award winning Lickety Split Ice Cream will be available at a small cost.

Free Active Sunderland Community Sport Festival

Thursday 27th August, 11am - 3pm
Hetton Lyons Country Park

Try activities including kayaking, canoeing, wind surfing, rowing, football, cycling, mini golf and more.

No booking required, just turn up.

Caring with Confidence

Would you as a carer like to become more assertive, lead a healthier lifestyle and gain more information which could help you in your caring role?  Why not join us at our Caring with Confidence sessions.

They start again in September and will be held at "The Place", Athenaeum Street, in Sunderland.

The informal sessions run by Sunderland Carers' Centre take place each Wednesday from 9th September, 11am - 2pm.  Each session includes a light lunch and refreshments.  We can help with transport costs if required and help financially if you need a sitting service for the person you care for to enable you to attend.
