This course is vital for helping people prepare for the various stages of caring for someone with dementia.
Over five weeks, this programme provides peer support for carers with accompanying embedded learning. It provides insight and guidance through different parts of the dementia pathway, from the impact on memory, how the brain changes, ageing senses, general communication and beyond.
Sunderland College Distance Learning Hub
Sunderland Carers Centre is proud to partner with Sunderland College to bring accessible courses to carers.
We recognise that many people who care for loved ones find it difficult to make time in their day to attend courses in a traditional college/training setting. Sunderland College Distance Learning Hub enables carers to study in their own time, at home, around a caring role.
Sunderland College offer a range of FREE courses where you can obtain a qualification working from home. You will be allocated your own study pack and have a personal tutor who you can contact throughout your studies. You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate your knowledge. The qualifications are also available as on-line study.
Sunderland College is offering distance learning courses in the following subjects (click the subject for more information):
We don’t just want learners to achieve a qualification; we want them to succeed in their career goals. This is why the Sunderland College Distance Learning team are all industry professionals who can pass on their many years of experience to our learners, to make sure they get off to the best possible start in their new career.
Sunderland College provide a job search service, posting details of relevant vacancies for students on their intranet and Facebook site while also using their employer contacts to keep you informed of any job opportunities via your tutor. They also keep in touch after you have successfully completed a course to see how you are progressing towards work and offer further support and will invite you to their exclusive jobs fairs for current and former students.
